SCOTT’S SAFETY TIP OF THE WEEK - General Workplace Housekeeping

Effective housekeeping can eliminate some workplace hazards and help get your daily jobs done safety. Housekeeping is not just cleanliness, its a basic part of accident and fire prevention.

Housekeeping tips:

1. Ensure hallways, storage areas, and common spaces are free of slip and trip hazards
2. Proper disposal of waste or recycling material (paper and cardboard) and any other fire hazards in a timely manner- Don’t stockpile
3. When stacking items for storage, start with the heavier items on the bottom, and never stack them to high
4. Clean up any spills immediately
5. Never block an exit
Remember, housekeeping isn’t a once in awhile job, its an ongoing operation that everyone has a responsibility in maintaining.
